The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is contemplating stringent measures against the heads of 58 educational institutions for allegedly misappropriating funds allocated for specific purposes.

A senior BBMP official highlighted that each year, the civic body allocates funds to its schools and colleges, transferring the amounts directly to the accounts of the institution heads.

However, discrepancies have arisen, with significant sums being withdrawn without proper justification.

In response to these irregularities, the BBMP issued notices to the headmasters of 34 high schools, 16 primary schools, and the principals of 18 pre-university and two undergraduate colleges. These notices address violations of financial rules concerning the withdrawal and usage of allocated funds.

BBMP Chief Commissioner Tushar Giri Nath stated that explanations were sought from all implicated institution heads. While some were found to have committed minor infractions, others were involved in substantial financial misconduct.
