A Pattern of Road Rage in Bengaluru
This incident is not an isolated case in Bengaluru. The city has witnessed a series of road rage episodes with striking similarities.
In January 2023, a confrontation on Ullal Main Road escalated when a woman driving a Tata Nexon dragged a man on her car’s bonnet for approximately 3 kilometers.
The altercation began after a minor collision between the woman’s vehicle and a Maruti Suzuki Swift driven by the man. The situation intensified when the man attempted to confront the woman, leading her to drive off with him clinging to the bonnet.
Both parties were subsequently arrested and charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code.
In another alarming incident in January 2024, a man named Ashwath was dragged for about 400 meters on the bonnet of a cab near Maramma Temple Circle.
The tragic event unfolded after a dispute between Ashwath and the cab driver, Muneer, following a vehicular collision. Despite bystanders’ attempts to intervene, Muneer continued driving recklessly, resulting in Ashwath losing his grip and suffering a fatal fall.
The police registered a Non-Cognizable Offense Report against Muneer, and investigations were initiated based on the available CCTV evidence.
